Car Over The Hillside After Two-Vehicle Crash In Shaler

SHALER (KDKA) -- Officials confirmed a two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck and car in Shaler Township.

According to the Shaler Township Police Department, the driver of an SUV hit the driver of the dump truck on Thursday, and both vehicles went over the hillside at the intersection of Route 8 and Burchfield Road.

Authorities said a woman behind the wheel of Mitsubishi Outlander attempted to move from the curb lane to the passing lane and hit the dump truck.

Both drivers were in southbound lanes.

The truck driver walked away from the accident without injury, but the female driver and her male passenger were taken to Allegheny General Hospital.

The woman got out the car through a broken back window. The man was taken out by emergency crews through a side window on a back board. There is no update on their conditions.

The crash happened around 11:15 a.m., and police said Route 8 opened at 1:30 p.m.
