Canonsburg Man Accused Of Feeding Anti-Freeze Laced Food To Neighborhood Pets

WASHINGTON COUNTY (KDKA) -- A Canonsburg man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly leaving food laced with antifreeze for cats and other animals in his neighborhood.

The Observer-Reporter reports that James DeBaker, 71, who lives on Marple Avenue is accused of putting out the tainted food for cats between May and September.

Officers say DeBaker complained to animal control officers about his neighbor's cats coming onto his property.

They reportedly investigated and found no evidence of the cats.

Police went to DeBaker's home in September after getting reports he may have been burning the remains of cats.

A neighbor found a food bowl on DeBaker's back porch and after testing it was found to contain anti-freeze.

DeBaker is charged with animal cruelty.
