Candlelight Vigil Held For Slain 3-Year-Old On Her Birthday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – She would have turned 4 years old today.

But, Adrionna Williams was killed last month and her mother has been charged in her death.

Sunday night, a candlelight vigil was held at the Mulberry Community Church in Wilkinsburg to remember the little girl.

"My intent was to bring the community together and honor this baby's life," Angel Jackson said.

"My daughter was Adrionna's best friend, so I took her to see the picture so she could see her. She asked was she going to see Adrionna and I said, 'She's in Heaven,'" Asia Sims said.

The girl's mother, Adriene, was arrested and charged with her daughter's death last week. Police say she suffocated Adrionna and left her body in some woods in Swissvale.

They say they linked the mother to the death through paper clips found in her car and surveillance video.

Police also say they found a notebook with writings by Williams that complain about the stress of being a single mother.
