Butler Co. Man Dies In Ohio Skydiving Accident

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (KDKA/AP) - Officials are investigating the death of a Butler County man who died in a skydiving accident in northeast Ohio.

Owners of Skydive Rick's in Springfield Township say 65-year-old Robert McQuiston's legs became tangled in the lines of his main parachute after exiting the plane for a jump Sunday afternoon. They say he was able to open his reserve parachute but still hit the ground too hard.

Skydive Rick's co-owner Kay Kuhns says McQuiston had past parachuting experience with the military.

McQuiston was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The Mahoning County Coroner is investigating.
