Butler Co. Community College Struck By Vandalism

BUTLER (KDKA) -- Recently named the top community college in the state, Butler County Community College takes great pride in its campus.

So, it was easy to understand why people were disheartened to find spray paint vandalism and damaged property this week.

It was a rare sight on a campus that has very little trouble.

Thankfully, campus police believe they're close to busting the culprits.

"I'm confident. I think we are very close. We've narrowed it down to just a few people," said Scott Richardson with campus police.

Officers say they have seen suspects on surveillance video, and they've gotten information about a phrase that was spray painted: "Free Julian J."

While most of the mess has been cleaned up, people are still disappointed.

"Beautification and beauty of our 330 acres is something people take pride in. People are very upset about it," said President Dr. Nicholas Neupauer.
