Brief Hiccup Forces Pa. Liquor Stores To Accept Cash Only

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania state liquor stores endured a hiccup in business when the credit card system became briefly overwhelmed.

Many shoppers trying to buy wine and hard alcohol Wednesday afternoon said the stores could only accept cash from around 3 to 4 p.m. Customers statewide tweeted about the issue and warned of long lines.

According to KYW-TV, a spokesman for the state Liquor Control Board says the agency's overloaded system had to be reset after being flooded with transactions.

The problem occurred during the hectic day before Thanksgiving. Wine and Spirits stores are closed on the holiday.
