Both Sides Of Parkway East To Close For Greenfield Bridge Work

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Parkway East will be shut down this weekend on both the inbound and the outbound side, where crews are reconstructing the Greenfield Bridge.

The closures will start at 10 p.m. Friday and continue through 6 a.m. Monday. There will be plenty of stopping as traffic is detoured outbound at the Forbes Avenue/Oakland exit.

"So we're asking folks coming out of the tunnel not to make a sudden stop," said Pittsburgh Operations Chief Guy Costa.

Steel arches and decking will be placed over the Parkway.

There will be a detour in place, but drivers should expect significant delays.

Drivers will be detoured through several neighborhoods, including Squirrel Hill, Edgewood, Wilkinsburg, Point Breeze and Oakland.
