Body with gunshot wound found in Washington County road

FINLEYVILLE, Pa. (KDKA) - A man is dead after a shooting in Washington County.

A Monongahela police officer found the victim's body lying in the street during an overnight patrol. The coroner identified him as 29-year-old Jaisen Irwin.

At this point, Monongahela police aren't saying much. The most they will confirm is the situation is still under investigation.

For people living along Washington Avenue in Finleyville, it was an alarming sight they woke up to Monday morning.

One lady didn't want to be identified but woke up to police lights around 2:30 this morning.

"There was all kinds of lights going on. Looked out my window and there was investigators because there was a body in the middle of the street," she said.

The body was found while an on-duty Monongahela officer was driving on Washington Avenue. The coroner has not released the manner of death but says the victim was shot.

"We've had a few car accidents. That's basically it. We're real quiet. We live right across the street from a church for crying out loud," the lady continued.

She didn't hear any gunfire or calls for help, but she tells KDKA her neighbors heard what they believed to be gunfire. For several hours, several people could not get out of their homes because of the investigation on Washington Avenue.

"Get these guns off the streets, out of these people who just hurt people. That would help," she added.

KDKA learned state police assisted the investigation. Their forensics unit was used to help police during their search for evidence.

Just blocks away from where the body was found, investigators were looking around Bob's Tavern on State Route 88. Sources tell KDKA the two scenes are connected. They say the shooting started at the bar.

"I pray for the family. I really do," the lady said.
