Police: Blind Woman Found Dead After Searching For Dog

AMITY, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in western Pennsylvania say an elderly blind woman died after apparently getting lost near her residence while looking for her dog.

The (Washington) Observer-Reporter says 70-year-old Regina Carol Hart died Friday night near her home in Amity.

State police said she was looking for her dog near her residence after 6 p.m. when she apparently became disoriented.

Police said as night fell and colder temperatures set in, she "succumbed to pre-existing ailments."

Personnel from the Long Pine fire department found her at about midnight in a wooden thicket next to a cornfield in Amwell Township.
