Bishop Zubik Reviews New 'Son Of God' Movie

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - A new movie about the life of Jesus is premiering this weekend and it's the first time he has been portrayed in a movie in 10 years.

"Son of God" follows his entire life and Bishop David Zubik got a sneak preview.

He joined KDKA Radio's Larry Richert and John Shumway to give his review live from Rome.

Bishop Zubik says that he was very lucky in regards to the film.  He and five other Bishops were picked to, "provide some information for one of the trailers of the film."

"It is the best film I have ever seen about Jesus," he says "[Because it] connects our human struggles with what Jesus had to go through in his life."

The Bishop says he didn't see anything controversial or historically inaccurate with the film.

In the movie, Jesus is portrayed by Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado and along with "Son of God" movies about Noah, Joseph, and a retelling of the story of Moses are just a few of the faith-based movies coming out this year.

"[I] hope it's a sign of religion becoming more important in people's lives," he says.

"Son of God" opens this Friday at theaters around the Pittsburgh area. Two of the producers of the film are Roma Downey, star of "Touched by an Angel," and her husband, Mark Burnett, producer of "Survivor" on CBS.
