Bethel Bakery Opening New Location In North Strabane Township

BETHEL BAKERY (KDKA) -- Bethel Bakery in Bethel Park has served up cakes, cookies and cream puffs for 61 years. Owner John Walsh has followed his parents' recipe for success for 25 of those years.

As competitors fall by the wayside, Bethel Bakery continues to prosper. 85 employees keep customers coming back. But for some fans, it's just too far to travel.

"Especially in Peters and Canonsburg, going south towards Washington," the owner says. "And we just had requests. And when we had an opportunity knock, we said, you know what, this really is the right time for a second Bethel Bakery."

They'll be opening their new location in North Strabane Township. Country Confections Chocolate owned both sides of a large building. Now the new Bethel Bakery will occupy much of the space.

Country Confections specializes in chocolate - covering pretzels, popcorn and fresh green apples. But owner Barb Ciprowski says she wanted to downsize.

"We assessed, and said we don't need all this space. When we started to talk, and he showed an interest in the other side, I was like, this could be pretty amazing."

The new location is scheduled to be ready in time for the holidays.
