Roethlisberger On Comeback Win Over Broncos: One Play At A Time

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger joins "The Cook and Poni Show" on Sportsradio 93.7 "The Fan for the #1 Cochran Ben Roethlisberger" Show which airs every Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. during the Steelers' season.

The Steelers are coming off a 34-27 comeback win over the Denver Broncos to improve to 9-5. Roethlisberger discussed rallying from a 27-13 halftime deficit.

"That's football, right? Sixty minutes. No one ever says play 30 minutes. It's 60 minutes, and we preached at halftime, all you really heard from people was, 'one play.' One play at a time, one play at a time, and that's what we did in the second half. We went out one play at a time, and had some fun," Roethlisberger said.

Roethlisberger said that there was nothing out of the ordinary said at halftime.

"There was no fire up, rah rah, stand up in front of the whole team," Roethlisberger said. "It just never felt like there was any panic or any worry; it was just, 'Okay, it's halftime, let's get ready to go out for the second half.' So, there was nothing mythical or magical."

Andrew Fillipponi asked if the offense had any extra motivation because of the reputation of Denver's "No Fly Zone" defense.

"Certain guys maybe did take offense or whatever to the 'No Fly Zone' or whatever. Me, I've played this game too long to really let those things kind of get into my head," Roethlisberger said. "It was more just about going up against the number one defense in the NFL. That should be all the motivation you need."

Roethlisberger mentioned a conversation with GM Kevin Colbert in the locker room after the game, where they discussed his late interception.

"I said, 'Boy I just gotta stop trying to make so many plays.' He goes, 'No you don't. Don't stop. That's what we live by and die by, and you've done too much, too many good things to stop. Don't ever stop doing it.' So, it just makes you feel good when your GM is someone that has that much faith and trust and belief in you, too."

Roethlisberger said that he's humbled that he and Antonio Brown are mentioned by people in the same discussion as the duo of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice.

"It's hard for me to ever put myself in that category because I grew up a Niner fan because of those two and I think Joe is the best. So, that's hard for me to put myself there, but it's a humbling honor," Roethlisberger said.
