Beaver Man Convicted Of Girlfriend's 2014 Stabbing Death

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) - A man has been convicted of third-degree murder in the stabbing death of his girlfriend in her western Pennsylvania home.

The Beaver County Times (http://bit.ly/1PTd05k ) reports that jurors convicted 59-year-old James Turner on Friday evening following a five-day trial in Beaver County Court.

Prosecutors said 53-year-old Patricia Thompson was found dead in her Aliquippa home in August 2014. They said she had been stabbed 16 times in the neck, scalp, shoulder and back and also had blunt force trauma to the head.

Thompson testified Wednesday that he acted in self-defense after Thompson attacked him with a knife after they returned from a bar.

Thompson's daughter, 26-year-old Te'resa Lay of Aliquippa, said she had hoped for a first-degree murder conviction but her mother could now "finally rest in peace."
