Beaver Co. H.S. Instructor Has 3 Run-Ins With Police In 1 Night

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Beaver County instructor had run-ins with police three times Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Police were initially called to the Ambridge American Legion after 1 a.m. and followed a trail of blood to Carl Curtis who was bleeding from the head and "highly intoxicated."

Curtis is the ROTC instructor at Ambridge High School.

After questioning, police say Curtis told them his wife, Kathleen, broke a beer glass over his head.

"She had picked up a beer mug, a glass, and struck him in the head, causing some lacerations
to his head," said Ambridge Police Chief Jimmy Mann. "And she in turn received some injuries to her right hand."

After 2 a.m., police say they got another 911 call, saying Carl was involved in another altercation with another woman.

"Officers went back up there and determined that the female Carl Curtis was having an argument with was actually the school board president Mary Jo Kehoe," said Mann.

Police say Curtis' and Kehoe's argument was laced with profanity and loud enough to be cited for disorderly conduct.

However, that still wasn't the last time they saw Carl that night.

At 5:30 a.m. he was supposed to drive students on an ROTC field trip leaving from the high school.

"Officers were there, Carl was there," said Mann. "And when they called him over, he was still extremely intoxicated. He was putting tobacco in his mouth and drinking an iced tea."

He was cited for public intoxication and another instructor drove the students.

Curtis was served two citations.
