Beaver Co. Mom Drives Kids To School, Arrested On DUI Charges

FREEDOM (KDKA) – A woman in Beaver County is facing charges after being arrested for driving her children to school while being under the influence of prescription medications.

According to police, 37-year-old Nicole Scott, of Freedom, was arrested on Feb. 6 after dropping off her child at school.

Police were called after a person at the school spoke with Scott. That person called police because they felt Scott was not fit to drive at the time.

The witness said Scott was falling asleep during their conversation and felt she was under the influence of something.

The criminal complaint says "she was concerned because Mrs. Scott had two little children with her and she was driving a vehicle."

When police arrived, they noticed similar behavior and conducted field sobriety tests. After failing three tests, Scott was placed under arrest.

She was taken to a local hospital for a blood test to determine what exactly was in her system.

Scott told police that she was taking Vicodin, Percocet, Valium and Neurontin. Lab results showed she had Oxycodone, Diazepam and Nordiazepam in her system.

When Scott was arrested, her children were turned over to her mother.

Scott is facing a list of charges including DUI and endangering the welfare of a child.
