68-Year-Old Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested At Airport

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A bank robbery suspect was arrested at the airport Saturday afternoon as he was attempting to leave the state.

Police arrested 68-year-old Robert Charles Stiver in connection to two bank robberies around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

At the time of the arrest, Stiver was at a Pittsburgh International Airport terminal waiting for a flight to Pompano Beach, Florida.

Police say Stiver was a suspect in a robbery that took place in November at an Allegheny Valley Bank in Shaler Township. He was also a suspect in a robbery that took place on Friday at the First Commonwealth Bank in Harmar Township.

Stiver will be transported to Allegheny County Jail. He is charged with several counts of robbery, theft by unlawful taking and simple assault for allegedly threatening bank tellers.
