DA: Teen Girl's Body Found In Park Was Doused With Bleach

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Authorities say the body of a teenage girl found in a Pittsburgh park had been doused in bleach - likely in an effort to remove evidence.

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala said Friday the caustic fluid burned the body of Teaira Whitehead.

Zappala says suspects sometimes use bleach in an attempt to destroy DNA, but it's not always successful.

Police had already labeled the 16-year-old's death "suspicious." Joggers found her naked body in Riverview Park on Monday.

The Allegheny County medical examiner has not released information on how Whitehead died. Coroner Karl Williams says he's still waiting for results of several tests.

Zappala says police are searching for several people associated with Whitehead, who was from Homewood.
