Authorities Kill Deer Trapped In State College Hotel

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - The Pennsylvania Game Commission had to kill a deer after it became trapped inside a hotel in State College and couldn't be tranquilized.

The Centre Daily Times said the deer entered the Days Inn Penn State around 4 a.m. Friday after the automatic doors opened.

Security video shows it running past the front desk and a clerk immediately making a phone call. Another camera catches the deer heading into the hallway but having difficulty getting traction on the slippery floor.

The newspaper says the animal became trapped in a bathroom hallway of the adjoining restaurant.

Police tell the newspaper Game Commission officers weren't able to tranquilize the deer, and had to kill it.

Police say no damage to the property was reported.
