Authorities Identify Teen Who Drowned In Connoquenessing Creek

PERRY, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a teenager died after falling into a western Pennsylvania creek.

State police in Lawrence County say 15-year-old Austin Hines was with a 14-year-old friend when he fell into the Connoquenessing Creek shortly before 7 p.m. Friday.

Officials said the youth wasn't a strong swimmer and was unable to make it back to shore.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene and began searching for the youth. They said his body was found shortly after 8:30 p.m. not far from where he entered the water.

Police said the death is under investigation.
