At Least 4 Firefighters Injured In Turtle Creek Blaze

TURTLE CREEK (KDKA) – At least four firefighters have been injured while battling an apartment building fire in Turtle Creek Monday afternoon.

According to officials at the scene, the fire broke out in the 400-block of Kenyan Street around noon.

At least six apartments have suffered damage that is too severe for the residents to return home.

One resident said a tenant on a back porch had to jump to safety. That resident also suffered an injury, but their condition is not known. A nurse, who works at a nursing home across the street, suffered smoke inhalation when she entered the building to try and help the residents escape.

At least four firefighters were injured, but the severity of the injuries is unknown.

As of 1:30 p.m. the fire was still burning, but the cause of the fire is also unknown.
