1 Dead In Armstrong Co. Coal Truck Crash

EAST FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Butler County has died following a multi-vehicle crash involving a coal truck in Armstrong County.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. along Route 422 near the West Hill exit in East Franklin Township.

According to state police in Kittanning, the road was completely shut down in both directions while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

The view from NewsChopper 2 shows the car was crushed by the coal truck.

The Armstrong County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 37-year-old Daniel D. Seitz, Jr. of Lyndora.

According to the coroner's office, Seitz was headed east on Route 422 when his car crossed in front of another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle hit his brakes and the coal truck, which was following behind swerved.

The truck then rolled on top of Seitz's car and the other vehicle ended up in the median.

Seitz was pronounced dead at the scene.
