Art Rooney II, John Mara Release Statement On Role In NFL Investigation

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - As the NFL has appointed former FBI director Robert Mueller III to conduct an investigation into the league's handling of the Ray Rice case, Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II and New York Giants owner John Mara have released a joint statement in which they detail their involvement in the proceedings.

According to the statement, Rooney and Mara say their role "is to assist [Mueller] in gaining whatever access or resources he needs."

In the statement, the owners make it known they have already spoken with Mueller and he is ready to begin his investigation immediately.  Although the investigation will start soon, the league is setting no timetable for its completion.
