Man Dead After Overnight Shooting In Arnold

ARNOLD, Pa. (KDKA) -- A man died after being shot multiple times overnight in Westmoreland County.

Police in Arnold went door-to-door long after the early morning shooting and at least one person was placed in a police car.

At 4 a.m., there were flashing lights, police, EMS crews and yellow tape at the scene of a shooting in the 1500 block of 5th Avenue, where blood-stained clothing still remained.

According to the Westmoreland County District Attorney's office, 27-year-old Lamont Simmons was shot multiple times and was found in the middle of the street.

Simmons was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 5 a.m.

The District Attorney's office says 32-year-old Shawden L. Ross, of Pittsburgh, has been arrested for criminal homicide, convict not to possess and receiving stolen property.

According to court reports, Ross and Simmons got into a heated argument before the shooting.
