Armstrong Co. Crash Leaves 1 Dead

KITTANNING (KDKA) – State Police in Kittanning are investigating a crash that left one person dead in Armstrong County Saturday.

The two-vehicle accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on Route 422 in Plumcreek Township.

Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers said the 27-year-old driver of a station wagon that was hit head-on by a car coming in the opposite direction was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is identified by state police as Tyler Kulp of Laureldale, Pennsylvania. He was a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The driver of the other car, who state police identify as Stephen Caulfield of Waterford, Pennsylvania, was not injured in the crash.

Armstrong County District Attorney Scott Andreassi says charges are pending against the driver of the car who was at fault in the accident.

State police say he swerved over into the westbound lane.

The charges could include involuntary manslaughter and/or homicide by vehicle.
