Water Main Break Forces Dozens Of Tenants Out Of Brentwood Apartment
BRENTWOOD (KDKA) -- About 60 residents have been forced from their homes by a large water main break in Brentwood.
It happened at the Brentshire Gardens Apartments on Pyramid Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Residents say water began gushing from ceilings and walls.
The fire chief said the building's boiler system let go, overloading radiators in building "D", flooding apartments.
Some were taken in by relatives, others were taken to the Brentwood Community Center.
"We had to evacuate, the fact of no heat and with the temps we have and the water coming down through the ceilings and the walls. Until electrical inspectors can come in and make sure that everything is safe and everything is repaired," one resident said.

Residents will not be allowed back into their apartments until repairs are made and the heat is back on.
It will be up to the building's management to fix the problem. It's expected to take a few days.
The Red Cross is offering assistance to those displaced.
