Animal Rescue League: Paralyzed Dog Will Have Surgery Next Week

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Animal Rescue League says they have raised the $5,000 needed to pay for a dog with paralyzed back legs that needs surgery.

Gracie, a beagle mix, has a slip disc problem and needs the surgery to correct it.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the Animal Rescue League thanked donors and said Gracie will see a specialty veterinarian on Monday.

Her surgery will happen next week.

The full statement says: "The staff at the Animal Rescue League would like to express our sincere gratitude for all of the contributions that have been pouring in to help with the cost of Gracie's surgery. Thank you for donating & sharing the story of this sweet pooch. Because the donations we've received have come in so quickly, we don't yet know how much has been raised. Gracie has an appointment at a specialty vet on Monday & we'll continue to update you with her progress."

Gracie was found on a road in Penn Hills.

Officials say they don't know how her hind legs became paralyzed.
