Allegheny Co. Announces Second Coronavirus-Related Death

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Allegheny County officials say a second person has died in the county from Coronavirus.

They say the person's positive status was unknown until after their death.

Allegheny County officials say: "We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this individual on their loss."

According to county health officials, the victim was a woman in her late 70s. She had not recently traveled, but did have other health issues that may have delayed the COVID-19 diagnosis.

The victim's family members are self-isolating as a precaution, and the paramedics who treated her during the 911 call were wearing personal protective equipment.

The case is now with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office. They will be providing more information as protocol allows.
