Allegheny County Police Investigating String Of Robberies

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Allegheny County Police are looking for a suspect who hit three different businesses in several communities overnight.

Police say the first robbery happened at the Comfort Inn on Route 60 in Kennedy Township late Saturday night.

Video surveillance footage shows the suspect walking in the parking lot. He came through the door and to the front desk, demanding money from the female hotel clerk.

A second hotel clerk, who replaced her Sunday morning, did not want to be identified.

"She said the guy said, 'Give me the money, give me your money,'" the second clerk said. "She said, 'We don't have money, we don't have cash. All we have is credit cards because it's slow.'"

The clerk says the robber never produced a gun.

"He had something wrapped around his hand, and he made it look like he had a gun," the clerk said.

The would-be robber was seen leaving the hotel parking lot on foot, but his apparent crime spree didn't end there. A short time later, a man matching the same description tried to rob the Marathon gas station on Route 50 in Heidelberg, but we're told he didn't get any money because the clerk could not open the cash drawer.

A Rite Aid in Bridgeville was the robber's last stop. The robber came in, shielded his face with an umbrella and showed a gun. He got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect is described only as a light-skinned African-American male, possibly with freckles, last seen wearing a dark knit cap.

Police have no vehicle description.
