"It's just a sad situation:" State police investigating shooting in Aliquippa that sent man and woman to the hospital

Two people hospitalized after shooting in Aliquippa

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) -Pennsylvania State Police said a man is in critical condition and his wife is also hurt with an unknown injury after an incident that resulted in a shooting early Thursday morning in Aliquippa.

Delsha Flannigan is processing what happened to her female cousin.

"It's just a sad situation, period," Flannigan said.

State police told KDKA they were called to respond to Main Street near Burton just before 3:30 a.m. for a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a man shot in the head. First responders transported him to a Pittsburgh hospital. They took his wife, also injured, but not from a gunshot to Beaver Valley Medical Center. Later, they transferred her to Pittsburgh.

Police said the woman's three kids were in the house at the time, and that it was an isolated incident. They're not saying who fired the shots as they continue to investigate.

"I just feel bad for my cousin and her family, and also his family," Flannigan said. "I know she's probably traumatized right now."

Flannigan said her cousin is very private.

"She's a very nice person. She raises her kids, she works," Flannigan said.

Flannigan said if her cousin was having issues, for the most part, she would have kept them to herself.

"No one knows what goes on with relationships," Flannigan said. "Every relationship has its ups and downs."

She just worries for the kids.

"I hope it does not prevent them from bettering their lives or being who they want to be due to the tragedy and the trauma that they had to see," Flannigan said.

At this time, no one has been taken into custody.
