Alcoa Heir Sets Up $15 Million Fund At Pittsburgh Foundation

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A grandson of the co-founder of industrial giant Alcoa has established a $15 million fund at the Pittsburgh Foundation to be used for charitable causes in the Pittsburgh region and elsewhere.

Officials tell the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the gift by Richard and Priscilla Hunt is the largest one-time contribution ever made by living donors to the foundation.

Hunt said the region is where much of the money was made, and he and his wife "want to make gifts that we think would be good for Pittsburgh and good for the world."

The couple said some money will likely go to The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. Grants will also go to causes elsewhere that they have long supported, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, FamilyAid Boston and Oberlin College.
