Adamsburg Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon when he was thrown from his bike down a grassy embankment in Westmoreland County.

The accident happened just after 4:40 p.m. along Interstate 76 in Hempfield Township.

The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office identifies the victim as 33-year-old Eric Murray of Adamsburg Borough.

The coroner's office reports Murray was headed east when he lost control of his motorcycle, crossed the center line, left the road and slammed into a guardrail.

Murray was thrown from the motorcycle, down an embankment and into a grassy area near Frye Hollow Road.

According to the coroner's office, he was not wearing a helmet and died of multiple blunt force injuries.

Murray was pronounced dead at the scene around 7 p.m.
