Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers continued to climb up the NFL leaderboards on Sunday. The 41-year-old passer took sole possession of fourth place on the NFL's all-time passing touchdowns list, throwing his 509th career touchdown pass.

Rodgers connected with new wideout DK Metcalf in the second quarter to surpass Favre at No. 509. The veteran quarterback also threw a second and game-winning touchdown to Calvin Austin III in the fourth quarter for No. 510.

During the Steelers' 31-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week, Rodgers tied Favre's record with his 508th career touchdown pass.

Favre and Rodgers' careers have been intertwined for years, dating back to when the Green Bay Packers selected Rodgers with the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, at which point Favre was still entrenched as the starter for the Packers.

Favre opted to sign with the New York Jets for one season in 2008 before finishing his career with the Minnesota Vikings during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Favre threw his 508th and final touchdown of his career with the Vikings in a game against the Chicago Bears on Dec. 20, 2010.

The Mississippi native ended his career as the league's leader in career touchdown passes, but has since been surpassed by Peyton Manning (539 career touchdown passes), Drew Brees (571) and Tom Brady (649).
