Police Department Deletes And Apologizes For Shopping Cart Fentanyl Facebook Post

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A post by an Arkansas police station about fentanyl on shopping carts went viral, but has quickly been deemed not true.

The Leachville Police Department posted the warning as a reason why customers should always wipe down their shopping cart handles before using them.

In the post it said that deadly drugs like fentanyl could be left behind on the cart handle and enter your body through contact with your skin.

Experts say while that accidental ingestion would be possible, it's not likely to occur from shopping carts.

The police department has now deleted the post and apologized.
