Police: 9-Year-Old Ohio Boy Steals Grandmother's Car, Could Possibly Face Grand Theft Auto Charges

TIPP CITY, Ohio (AP) - A 9-year-old caused panic along two Ohio counties after stealing his grandmother's car and taking it on a joyride.

The Dayton Daily News reports police received multiple calls Saturday about a child driving on Interstate 75 in Miami and Montgomery counties.

The child's grandmother told dispatchers she let her grandson take the keys to listen to the radio and when she walked outside, her car was gone.

The boy eventually crashed the car into two other cars in Tipp City. He has been released to his grandmother.

The grandmother says she's thankful no one was hurt but this was "a real living nightmare," since he had previously been in trouble with juvenile court.

Authorities say the boy could face a list of traffic charges, including grand theft auto.
