9 People Displaced By Westmoreland County Fire

GRAPEVILLE (KDKA) – Nine people were displaced after a house fire in Westmoreland County Thursday morning.

According to officials at the scene, the fire started at a home in the 2600-block of Brown Avenue around 4:33 a.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but it is believed to have started in the kitchen.

"Upon arrival, smoke coming from the structure. Jeannette's engine arrived on scene first, went in and did fire attack. [The] fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes," Grapeville Volunteer Fire Company Chief Dan Nescot said.

A total of four adults and five children were able to get out safely.

"Everybody got out safely, four adults and five children. At this time, [we] notified Red Cross. They will come in and assist them," Chief Nescot said.
