8-Year-Old Pa. Boy Drowns During Swimming Pool Party At Hotel

LANCASTER (KDKA) -- An 8-year-old boy drowned Saturday during a swimming pool party at a Pennsylvania hotel.

Lancaster Online reports it happened at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Lancaster.

The child reportedly entered the pool unattended, struggled briefly, and died.

The boy's name will not be released until all family members have been notified. He was from York County.

He was attending a friend's birthday party when he used the slide to enter the pool.

"We believe he did not know how to swim," Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said.

Attempts were made to revive the boy before he was taken to Lancaster General Hospital and pronounced dead.
