7-Year-Old Hit BY SUV In New Castle

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- A 7-year-old has been rushed to the hospital after being struck by an SUV in New Castle.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday, near the intersection of Hawthorne Street and Laurel Place.

According to New Castle Police, the victim and her younger sister were riding bikes down a hill on Laurel Place when they failed to stop at a stop sign. An SUV traveling on Hawthorne Street struck the 7-year-old.

She was rushed to UPMC Jameson, it is not clear how badly she was hurt. Her sister was not injured.

Police have not said if any charges will be filed against the driver of the SUV.
