5 Reasons The Steelers Vs Browns Rivalry Should Be Reborn In 2014

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It should come as no surprise but there is no love lost between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns.

The two franchises have had one of the NFL's biggest rivalries for decades.

The teams have played against each other more than any other franchises.

In week 1 of the 2014 NFL season the Steelers built a 27-3 halftime lead before the Browns rallied in the second half to tie the game.

Kicker Shaun Suisham's 41-yard field goal as time expired gave the Steelers the win.

You could say that rivalry has taken a backseat to the Steelers – Ravens rivalry lately, in part because the Browns haven't been so good. (That's a nice way to put it.)

Could the 2014 season actually revive the age old rivalry?

Here are 5 Reasons the Steelers vs Browns Rivalry Should Be Reborn In 2014:

5. The Return Of James Harrison.

James Harrison is back. James Harrison grew up a Browns fan. We're pretty sure that might have changed over his years playing for the black and gold.

Who could forget Christmas Eve 2005 when the Steelers were beating the Cleveland Browns 41-0… and then this happened.

You've been warned Browns fans, we don't suggest running onto the FirstEnergy Field know that number 92 is back.

4. Brian Hoyer Is Beginning To Look Like A Starting QB.

Hoyer improved to 5-2 as a starter after last week, and now has three come from behind victories. That was nearly four when the Browns stormed back only to lose to the Steelers week 1 as time expired. On the flip side, Ben Roethlisberger is 18-1 against the Browns.

3. Browns Favored By 2 Points.

For the first time since President George W. Bush was in office, the Browns are favored to beat the Steelers in back to back seasons.

That hasn't happened since the 1990 and 1991 seasons. The Browns are favored to win by 2 points.

2. Steelers Fans Love To Hate Johnny Manziel.

Rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel hardly even played in the week 1 matchup against the Steelers, and he wasn't the starting quarterback. That doesn't stop Steelers fans from hating on him. Who could forget the black and gold fans that tailgated with Manziel before week 1?

1. Antonio Brown Already Kick Started The Rivalry

Antonio Brown has already kicked the Steelers vs Browns rivalry up a notch thanks to his week 1 ninja style kick on punter Spencer Lanning.

Brown was flagged on the play for unnecessary roughness, and fined $8200.

We're all waiting to see what Brown does this week for an encore. (Nevermind, the Steelers have too many penalities as it is.)
