Parking Rates Increase Today

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)-Get ready to pay more for parking in Pittsburgh.

The Parking Authority's new rate increases go into effect today.

As an example,  the city's most in demand garage – Mellon Square – will see it's all-day rate climb from $13.75 to $18.

That should make the First Avenue Garage more attractive at its new rate of $11. It's currently $8.75.

There is no consistency to the amount of the increases as they were based on each garage or lot's location and competition.

If you would like to find the new rate for where you park use this link: http://www.pittsburghparking.com/facilities, and then click on the particular facility you want to check.

Meanwhile, commuters who currently use the "stadium lots" on the North Shore will also be paying more starting Friday.

The increase of generally a dollar a day was approved by the authorities who own the lots.
