Chase Ends In Crash After Shots Fired In East Hills

EAST HILLS (KDKA) - Police are looking into a violent night in East Hills.

The violence started with shots being fired in the East Hills Housing Plan along the 2300-block of East Hills Drive around 1:30 a.m.

An off-duty police officer heard five shots fired in rapid succession and then a vehicle taking off at a high rate of speed.

"Across the street from where he was stationed, he saw a black Jeep come out from behind the building at a high rate of speed," Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

When several police units arrived at the scene, a group of people scattered.

No one was found shot and no one was reported to have arrived at any of the area hospitals with a gunshot wound.

However, investigators found many bullet casings in the area.

When the driver of the Jeep took off, police were on his tail and speeds reached 60 mph.

There were noticeable skid marks on Bennett Street in Homewood where the driver, 20-year-old Aaron Bailey, lost control and plowed into a telephone pole.

Bijanie Davis, 25, of the Woodland Hills area, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Bailey was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted. Both were taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.

"There was a good bit of marijuana found both inside the Jeep and at the hospital where the passenger was discovered to have some marijuana inside her body," Toler said.

Both bailey and Davis were arrested to taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
