4 Students Taken To Hospital After West Mifflin School Van Accident

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. (AP) - Four special needs students have been taken to a hospital as a precaution after their school van was involved in a multi-vehicle crash near Pittsburgh.

Gerald Chessman, assistant superintendent for the Woodland Hills School District, says the district was responsible for the students' transportation to a private school outside the district because they live in the district.

Officials at ALCD Tillotson School confirmed the students attended that school, but said no other information was immediately available. The school's website says it serves children and adults with learning disabilities.

Chessman says the students were being examined but says, "Thank goodness, they're being see by physicians, but seem to be doing OK."

The crash occurred on Lebanon Church Road, a major artery in the suburb of West Mifflin. Police there didn't immediately release information about the crash around 8 a.m. Thursday.
