3 Shot In Lawrence County, 1 Dead

ELLWOOD CITY (KDKA) - State Police are looking into a deadly shooting Sunday night in Lawrence County.

According to police, the shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. on Loop Street in Ellwood City.

State Police believe the triple-shooting stems from an ongoing domestic dispute between one of the men who was shot and another woman.

Neighbors say they're sick of the violence in the Walnut Ridge Apartments.

"All we heard was what we thought was firecrackers going off and then, we heard there was a shooting down there and [saw] all the police cars," one neighbor said.

When State Police and Ellwood City Police arrived, they found 34-year-old Rashund Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Jessica Jackson, 29, also suffered a gunshot wound, but was taken inside one of the apartments.

Authorities quickly learned that a third man, 43-year-old Thomas Paris, was also involved in the shooting. However, he wasn't at the scene.

"He died at another location in what they call 'The Ranch.' It's a bar/restaurant in Wayne Township. His friends had taken him to get help. They got lost and so he succumbed to his injuries at that location," Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Thomas Dubovi said.

Troopers said Paris was found dead in the car.

Police say there were numerous guns involved and that gunfire was exchanged by both parties.

Smith and Jackson were taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
