Thousands Expected To Attend 2016 Heinz Field Kickoff & Rib Fest

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The 2016 Kickoff and Rib Festival got underway Thursday afternoon at Heinz Field and runs through Labor Day Weekend.

It's an annual sign that summer is coming to an end and football season is quickly approaching.

The festival started at 4 p.m. Thursday and runs until 7 p.m. Monday.

The event is free and open to the public with lots of delicious food for sale from national rib vendors.

Along with a wide range of barbecue and ribs, there are also several concerts and it's all free.

Performances include The Clarks, Chris Janson, Travis Tritt, and Brothers Osborne.

In addition to the food and music, there will be other events going on for fans.

On Saturday, Pitt hosts Villanova at 1:30 p.m. in their first game of the season.

Then, the Steelers 5K will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
