CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Two tractor-trailers jackknifed along the Pennsylvania Turnpike Thursday morning, which caused heavy delays.

According to officials, the incident happened between Cranberry Township and Butler around 4 a.m. The eastbound lanes had to be closed, but crews managed to make enough room for the miles-long backup to squeeze by in a single lane.

Other motorists were forced to use the detour in Cranberry Township, which took them on Route 228.

Crews ended up sawing into the guardrail to free the first tractor-trailer and managed to pull both out of the way just before 8 a.m.

Initial reports indicate snow may have played a role in the incident.

There are no reported injuries.
