Teen Arrested, Facing DUI Charges After Police Chase

MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) – A teenager is facing DUI charges after leading police on a chase early Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers were patrolling 2nd Street in Pitcairn when they noticed a female slumped over in the passenger's seat of a vehicle.

As they approached the car, the driver took off. The female passenger began waving her arms as if she was signaling for help. As a result, police began to pursue the car.

The 16-year-old male driver led police on a chase, which eventually came to a stop on Route 22 in Murrysville, near Cornerstone Lane. Police used spike strips to disable the vehicle.

Two people were arrested at the scene, including the driver. He is facing charges of endangering the welfare of another person and DUI. The teen was released into the custody of his mother.

The passenger was not charged.

As for the chase, it lasted for about 12 miles and never exceeded 55 mph.
