2 Arrested After Exchange Of Gunfire Between 2 Cars In Northview Heights

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –Two men have been arrested after shots were fired between two vehicles in Northview Heights earlier this week.

According to police, the incident happened on Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Mr. Pleasant Road.

Police were initially called to the area for a report of shots being fired and involving two vehicles.

A responding officer saw a passenger in a silver Honda Accord lean out the window and open fire on a red Oldsmobile Alero.

Police began to pursue the Accord, which eventually crashed into a retaining wall in the 3700 block of Termon Avenue. Three men in the car fled on foot and were able to get away.

The Oldsmobile was also able to get away from police.

On Wednesday, police arrested James Williams, 22, and Tyland Witherspoon, 19, both of Northview Heights.

Williams was charged with escape and two counts each of carrying a firearm without a license and persons not to possess a firearm.

Witherspoon is facing a list of charges including, carrying a firearm without a license, recklessly endangering another person and escape.

Police have not said what their roles were in the incident.
