16-year-Old Arrested For Attempted Murder

SHARON (KDKA) -- Police in Sharon have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a shooting that happened Saturday night.

Zaire Hasan was wanted for on charges of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault and possession of firearm by a minor.

According to police, there was a house party Saturday night at a home in the 500-block of McClure Avenue with between 30 and 50 "young people" in attendance. Police were called to the scene around 11:15 p.m. and discovered that an 18-year-old man from Farrell, Pa., had been shot in the chest.

The victim was sent to St. Elizabeth's Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Gerald Smith, Sharon Police Chief, stated that he has called upon the assistance of the Shenango Valley Ministerium for help organizing neighborhood meetings in the near future.

A release from Sharon Police states: "Our shared goal is to curb the violence among our youth, educate the public about what to do if they witness a crime of violence, and to coordinate some neighborhood watches."
