1 Dead After Car Ends Up In Washington Co. Creek

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – One person is dead after a car ended up in a Washington County creek Sunday.

Police say a car ended up in a creek near Plum Run Avenue and W. Pittsburgh Street in Burgettstown Sunday afternoon.

Prior to landing in the creek, officials say the car -- for unknown reasons -- traveled across the center line, over a hillside and was airborne for nearly a quarter mile before hitting the creek bed.

Inside the car, police found 43-year-old Phillip S. Wolanski of Washington, Pa. dead.

Police say the crash was discovered by a passing motorist.

McDonald Borough Police are investigating.
