1 Dead, 1 Injured In Blairsville Police Chase Crash

BLAIRSVILLE (KDKA) – An Indiana County man died in a crash after leading police on a chase early Wednesday morning.

According to the Indiana County Coroner, the chase started on Route 22 around 12:32 a.m.

Police initially tried to pull over a vehicle being driven by 19-year-old Ernest McCleary III. However, McCleary took off at a high rate of speed.

The chase continued to Campbell Mills Road, where McCleary lost control, went off the road and rolled several times in a corn field.

McCleary was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
