Annual March for Babies charity walk taking place on April 12

The March of Dimes' annual March for Babies charity walk will take place on April 12, 2026.

KDKA's Kristine Sorensen and Meghan Schiller are emceeing the walk, which starts at 10 a.m. at Highmark Stadium at Station Square. 

The Western Pennsylvania March for Babies is working to raise $1 million for research that will help transform the lives of children and for education and resources for families and medical professionals.

Pennsylvania State Police accepting applications for cadet training

Pennsylvania State Police are now accepting applications for cadet training.

You must be at least 20 years old when you apply, have a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license. Applicants will face several mental and physical tests before training at the academy.

PennDOT is looking for young ambassadors to join its Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful program.

Students in grades 10 through 12 can apply to help preserve the Commonwealth's natural resources. Part of the program involves the teen organizing a cleaning event.

About 148,000 bottles of Mindbodygreen's Multivitamin Plus dietary supplement are being taken off the shelves because the bottles do not have proper child-resistant packaging. 

The bottles were sold online from November 2021 through November 2024.

A recall that parents need to be aware of - Yetonamr pull string teething toys are being recalled due to the fact that the strings are too small and could become lodged in a baby's throat, causing them to choke. 

The toys were sold on Amazon from June through October 2025.

Rocking chair recall due to fall risk

Academy Sports and Outdoors has issued a recall of its Magellan Odyssey Rocker chairs. 

According to the recall, the legs can break off, putting a person at risk of falling and getting hurt.

Johnson Health expands treadmill recall

The Johnson Health recall of treadmills has been expanded to include 47,000 Matrix Retail and Vision treadmills. 

The recall states that the power cord can become loose from the treadmill's power socket, which poses a fire hazard. 

These treadmills were sold online and at retailers from April 2012 through May 2025.

Applications now open for Child Care Staff Recruitment and Retention Program

Child care providers can now apply for aid through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.

The budget set aside $25 million to support retention bonuses for 55,000 childcare workers statewide.

This funding will distribute $450 per employee to licensed child care work providers to address workforce shortages and expand child care availability for families around the Commonwealth.
